The camping gorilla safaris in Uganda is so much incredible, we are budget travelers from Dutch and we have traveled to so many places in Africa-and this year we have been in Uganda visiting the mountain gorillas in the mist, and we were on a tight budget as we traveled budget using the small SUV rented car from one of the Ugandan, services provider 4×4 Car Hire Uganda and these fleets are so reliable for your self drive in Uganda. As we were traveling quite long period of time combing most of Uganda’s National Park our travel planner quoted us very competitive price of the car and the all requirements need for one to do camping safari in Uganda.
Firstly, our safari started with the visit to the mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and we tracked the Busigye family at the Rushaga section of Bwindi forest and as we were on camping option we stayed at the Nshongi Gorilla Resort, camping grounds and most of this was organized by our travel planner Moses, from the above mentioned company. After this experience we had to drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, via the Ishasha Southern Sector which is much known for the African tree climbing lions, and upon our arrival at this section of the park in the early evening we took the trails expected to spot these animals and after short drive here we come across these predators in the branches of the fig trees and we spent almost 2 hours taking image shoots and videos and by the time we came out the park it was almost dark but as were ready prepared with our mobile camping facilities, we had to drive the Ishasha Uganda Wildlife Authority camping ground and we pitched our tent for an overnight stay and camping fire was set for us!
Then, early morning the following day we had dawn game drive to spot some early riser animals and with our good luck we spotted the lions and leopards and we had this excitement for almost 2 hours taking photos and video for the 2 predators and also we spotted other wildlife species like the elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, oribi, topi, warthogs among others. After with our scenic drive transferred to the Mweya peninsula and upon our stay at this side we stayed at the Bush Lodge, which Moses advised us that none other than this camp can offer service quality in Queen Elizabeth National Park, then late evening we took an evening photographic game drive to take sun downer shoot as well as game viewing.
Then the following day we took game drive at the Kasenyi mating ground and variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and water and bush bucks, warthogs among others we spotted. This experience took us 3-4 hours and after this unforgettable game drive we transferred to Kazinga Channel for the boat cruise which connects the Ramsar Lake George to Lake Edward and on this boat launch much more wildlife and birds can be experienced along the shores of the channel. After this cruise and on our way drive back to the camp we met a big number of elephants crossing the road from the channel to take water and back to the stay buffers!
We later concluded our trip with the visit to the Kibale Forest National Park where we experienced the chimpanzee trekking and the walk into the Bigodi Wetland and at this park we stayed at the Kibale Forest Camp! And later on we had to return Entebbe for our return flight back home!Read More
Do you need wheels on your next trip in East Africa? Renting a car can give you freedom and flexibility when you’re traveling, and in most parts of East Africa it’s the only feasible way to get around. But a rental car can sometimes add complications to your trip – like trying to find the best deal or sorting out exactly which insurance options you need. Read on for our practical tips on saving money, understanding your rental agreement and avoiding problems with your car rental.
Car Rental Tips
Take a look below and see some tips you must have when renting a car.
Choosing a Vehicle
Think carefully about what kind of vehicle you’ll need. If you’re traveling with children or with a lot of gear, you may want a large sedan or SUV. If you’re simply looking to save money on rental rates and gas, you’ll want to reserve the smallest available model.
Booking Your Car: Rent the right car for you
How long will you be renting? If it’s for less than a week, you’ll probably do best with a major rental company, such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National or Thrifty. For rentals of a week or longer, you may get better rates from local companies, particularly auto dealers. Remember, however, to be wary of local companies if you plan to drive a lot; if you break down or get into an accident, they usually lack the support services of the majors.
To lower your rate, ask about discounts for any major national organizations, frequent flier programs and credit card programs to which you may belong. They’ll frequently offer deals on car rentals. Those offered through AAA can be very good. If you’re employed by a company that frequently rents cars, they may have a negotiated rate. Make sure to check.
The True Cost of Car Rentals
Buyer beware: The rate you see advertised in big print may become so inflated with state and local taxes, airport surcharges, additional driver fees, insurance, gasoline bills and drop-off charges that you end up paying more than double what you expected. Learn more about these extra charges in Car Rental Hidden Costs.
At Pickup Time
If your first drive will be from an airport to a hotel for the night, why not take a shuttle van to the hotel instead? Doing this may save you the price of a day’s rental. Even if you must drive the same day your flight lands, you may not have to get the car at the airport. By picking it up downtown, you can often avoid hefty airport surcharges.
Returning Your Car
Be wary of prepaid gasoline plans. Always fill the tank yourself before returning the vehicle so that you’re only paying for the amount of gas you actually used. Try to avoid the gas stations right near the airport where you’re dropping off your car — the prices tend to be highest there. Instead, fill up a few miles away. Even better: Enquire about the location of gas stations in the area you are to visit before your trip.
